Barak is a well-versed professional in the field of artificial intelligence and sensor fusion. He is a researcher, lecturer, and entrepreneur who has published numerous patents and articles in professional journals.

Barak is also the founder of ALMA Tech. LTD, an AI and advanced navigation company. He has worked with Qualcomm as DSP and machine learning algorithms expert. Before that, he led the localization project at Autotalks.

 

He completed his Ph.D. in machine learning for sensor fusion at the University of Haifa, Israel. He holds M.Sc. (2018) and B.Sc. (2016) degrees in Aerospace Engineering and B.A. in Economics and Management (2016, Cum Laude) from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology.

 

He has received several prizes and research grants from the Israel Innovation Authority, the Israeli Ministry of Defense, and the Israeli Ministry of Economic and Industrial. In 2021, he was nominated by the Technion for “graduate achievements” in the field of High-tech.

  • Winner of an R&D grant ($550,000) from the Israel Innovation Authority for the development of a navigation system in a GPS-denied environment, as part of leading ALMA (2023)

  • Winner of a grant ($85,000) from the Ministry of Economy and Industry for pushing ALMA in the European market (2022)

  • Nominated by the Technion for “graduate achievements” in the field of High-tech for 2021

  • Winner of a grant from the Israel Innovation Authority for “accurate learning-based mapping technologies”. The grant ($30,000) covers research in the field of accurate navigation systems by state-of-the-art deep learning. The grant led to the establishment of ALMA (2020)

  • Gemunder prize for “Space Defense Related Technologies”. The prize ($25,000) was given for a proposal for future research “satellite interception by game theory approach” (2018)

  • Graduated with a double degree in a period of 4 years (8 semesters): Aerospace Engineering and Economics & Management (Cum Laude)

  • Winning second place in the Technion competition for security developments. The prize was given for “developing an innovative and creative idea in the field of security and dealing with terror" (2015)
